Dr. Ryan R. Maxwell
Dr. R. Ryan Maxwell, MD, 65, of Ocala passed away at his home suddenly on Sunday May 9th, 2010. Ryan was born in Atlanta, Ga. and moved to the Ocala area in 1983. Ryan received his bachelor's degree from Florida Presbyterian College (Eckerd College,) Master's from the University of Chicago, and Medical Degree from Johns Hopkins University, where he also completed his residency and fellowship.
Ryan was a gastroenterologist with Gastroenterology Associates of Ocala. He served on many boards supporting the arts, education, and medicine. He was an avid backpacker, collected art and fine wines, and enjoyed target shooting.
Ryan was preceded in death by his father E.L. Maxwell and brother Keith Maxwell. In addition to many close friends, he is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years Wendy Maxwell of Ocala; daughter Bree Maxwell Anderson and husband Andy along with their son Colin of Ocala, daughter Anne Maxwell of Tampa, daughter Bryce Maxwell Hilgenfeldt and husband Eric of Ocala, and daughter Taylor Maxwell of Gainesville; mother Grace Maxwell of Winter Park, brother Dave Maxwell and wife Diane of Winter Park, brother Greg Maxwell and wife Harriet of Tallahassee, sister-in-law Lynne Maxwell of Philadelphia, Pa., sister-in-law Terry Roberts of Jacksonville, sister-in-law Karey Godwin of Jacksonville, and sister-in-law Kelley Jenkins and husband Don of Ocala, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. more ...
