Quincy – Morris (Marty) Alexander Scott, Jr., 76, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021. Mr. Scott was born in Columbus, Ga, January 17, 1945 and was the son of Morris and Iva Scott.

A native of Tallahassee, he was a proud graduate of Leon High School, Class of 1963. He was married to Donna (Counts) Scott until she preceded him in death. He lived in Quincy since 1987 and was a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church.

Known as Marty to all who knew him, he worked in a variety of sales. He sold everything from t-shirts and cakes on the road to RV’s in Quincy. It was said that he could sell water to a fish! Through his career in sales, he had the opportunity to befriend many who provided him with endless stories. He loved to tell his stories to all and had an ability to make a room laugh like no other. Later, Marty worked for the Gadsden County Sheriff Department, where he retired in 2008.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna (2015), son Monty (2012) and sister Linda Dabney.

Services will be Friday February 12, 2021 at 11:00am at Thomas Memorial Baptist. Family will receive friends following the service at the church. Independent Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

The family understands these times, but ask if you do come, please wear a mask, and practice social distancing.
