Janet Hendry Ter Louw, 68, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 joining her beloved husband, John Gary Ter Louw, her parents Andy and Dessie "Honey" Hendry, and her brother James Hendry. She is survived by her daughter Janet Rachel Ter Louw and spouse Philip Smith; daughter Julie Gowen and son-in-law Larry Gowen; daughter Joanne Ter Louw; son John Gary Ter Louw, Jr. and spouse Stephanie Birchfield, who are expecting granddaughter Zoey Elizabeth Ter Louw; brothers John and Jerry Hendry; and sisters Joanne Dull, Jeanne Henry, and Judy Gregory.
Janet grew up in Tallahassee, Florida and graduated from Leon High School in 1963. She obtained a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 1967 and a Master of Music in Music Therapy in 1994 from Florida State University. She was a spiritual person who strongly believed in the Judaic roots of Christianity. She had a great love of Israel, and visited many times with her dear friends, Shulamit and David Ritblatt. Janet began ballroom dancing several years ago after meeting Vasiliy and Marina Vlasov, developing a strong love of dance and a wonderful friendship. Janet loved music and singing with her sisters, which brought great joy to her life. After retiring, she pursued oil painting, preparing many loved works for friends and family.
Funeral Services will be held at the chapel of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014.
